Objective
- The game itself — the curriculum gives this a third of the session at this age
Set-up and how it runs
- 4v4 to two small goals, no goalkeepers.
- Play five-minute games with a short break between each.
- Restart everything with a dribble or a pass, never a throw-in — the ball stays on the floor and in play.
- Coach from the side. Let them play; save the coaching points for the break.
Equipment
- 2 small goals
- Bibs
- Balls
Coaching points
- Find a space where your teammate can see you
- Turn and face the goal you're attacking when you get it
- Everyone attacks, everyone defends
- Well tried counts as much as well done
Progressions
- Add a halfway line the ball must be passed over
- Two goals each, one at each corner
- Silent game — no talking for two minutes, so they have to look
