Body-Part Dribble

Warm-upU6–U8Difficulty 1/5

8 minutes · Any number, one ball each · 20 × 20 yards · Unopposed

Objective

  • Build a first relationship with the ball through the whole body, not only the feet

Set-up and how it runs

  • Players dribble freely inside the square.
  • Call a body part — knee, elbow, head, back, bottom — and players stop the ball and put that part on it.
  • Last one to do it does three toe taps and rejoins. Nobody is out.
  • Mix in football commands: 'sole', 'inside', 'outside'.

Equipment

  • 4 cones
  • A ball each

Coaching points

  • Stop the ball first, then find the body part
  • Keep the ball close so you can stop it quickly
  • Look for space, not for a friend to follow

Progressions

  • Two body parts at once
  • Call a number instead — that many touches before stopping
